Making island wedding an elegant affair

THE article on Simon and Kittiya Burton’s wedding held at the Tango Beach Resort last March 10 (March 23-April 5 issue, p. 16) missed to acknowledge Samui Wedding, an island-based wedding organizer.

Samui Wedding, co-owned by Dujruedee Thaitumnus (also known as O), along with her husband, in fact, did all the hard work of designing and organizing Burtons’ glamorous wedding.

“We worked with the family for many months and were almost in daily contact to ensure that we met the family’s needs and that the ceremony would be flawless,” said Dujruedee. “The bridegroom’s mother wanted to put the wedding together herself but soon realized that because she was in the UK, it would be practically impossible. So, she contacted us.”

O has been in the business of designing weddings for 10 years. She opened Samui Wedding two years ago, but stresses that weddings are just the tip of the iceberg with regards to the services they offer. “Event planning and organizing is a big part of our business. From grand openings, birthday parties or any special event, big or small, we can set them up,” O says.

Indeed, given enough time, they can fulfill almost any request of a client. “We can get popular singers, bands, DJs, disco lights; do ice carvings; take professional-grade photographs and video; and arrange for all the transportation and accommodation of the guests.” O says they also have a team in Bangkok that guides a couple through the legalities of registering the marriage with the Thai government.

Samui Wedding has everything that it needs to perform both Christian and Buddhist weddings. “We teach the non-Buddhist half of the wedding couple how to behave and what everything means during the Buddhist ceremony,” O told Samui Express.

“If it were not for Samui Wedding, there would have been absolutely no way the wedding would turn out as beautifully and smoothly as it did,” said one of the Burton family members.—Robert Greer
