A PUB was ordered closed for 10 days for not having the proper documents and permits to operate.

The order was implemented after a recent inspection of the premises by Suratthani Gov. Vinai Baupradit and Region 8 police Vice Commander Maj. Gen Santhan Chayanon.

While conducting a routine security check around Koh Samui last month, the authorities went to The Peak to see if the place observed the proper safety operation guidelines and also to follow up on previous reports that minors were being allowed to enter the pub.

They were accompanied by other police officials and members of volunteer organizations.

When the inspection team arrived, some of the more than 200 customers were found to be younger than 20. Soon after, the disc jockey started shouting profanities at the officials, prompting them to conduct urine tests on some of the pub’s customers. The tests revealed that some of them were taking narcotics.—Chat Anupan
