THE arrest of three men resulted in police discovering that one of the secret agents they had employed to curb the illegal use of narcotics was himself involved in its proliferation.

Police Lt. Col. Boonma Kaewlaoet and Lt. Aphichart Jansamret had led a team of crack operatives in raiding a hut located at the foot of a mountain in Moo 1, Angthong subdistrict, after receiving reports it was being used as a hangout by teenagers taking drugs.

They arrested Visan Srisaeng, 21; Natthawut Himthong, 21; and a certain Pu, 18, after finding drug paraphernalia. The three were taken to the police station for further interrogation during which they confessed that they had bought amphetamines from a man they called Khaihoy.

The police later devised a plan to entrap him. They contacted Khaihoy and expressed a desire to buy some drugs. At a pre-agreed upon time, he and a woman, who was identified later as Bangorn Kamvapi, 25, arrived at the hut to deliver 25 amphetamine tablets.

Shortly after his arrest, it was discovered that Khaihoy (Utthaphorn Huinam in real life), 23, was a secret agent for the police in their war against drugs.

The two were charged with possessing and attempting to sell drug to young people.—Chat Anupan
